Meet the Artist

David Mckinney

Born in Milton, Florida, in 1975, David Mckinney currently lives and works out of his studio in San Diego, California. He received his BA in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Graphic design from San Diego State University in 1999. He immediately began implementing his skills for the abundant skateboard companies located in the area.

Following his passion for skateboarding he dedicated the next 10 years to the industry, with duties ranging from art directing to technical apparel design. After this lengthy stint behind the computer he ultimately decided that he missed building things by hand. Thus, Edison Mfg Co., was born.

Drawing on his mother’s background as a seamstress and his father’s background in metal fabrication as inspiration for his work. He takes pride in the process of building his products and enjoys the simple, classic look of 1950’s Amercican Design.
